T-Bone Walker was one of the first guitarists to front a band. The blues style we now call Jump Blues started with horn players who also sang as being the featured artist leading the band – out front, such as Louis Jordan. We take lead guitarists for granted but T-Bone Walker was a first.
T-bone also influenced generations of guitarists. Chuck Berry, B.B. King and Jimmy Hendrix all claim T-Bone Walker as an influence on their styles.
YouTube has a great selection of videos with T-Bone playing with some of the best jazz and blues artists of all times.
