Musican Summary

One of my favorite genres – in fact my most favorite jazz genre is bop. Barney Kessel was a bop guitarist who’s career spanned from 1944 to 1992. I love listening to his recordings. Great guitarist.

Among those he played with were:

  • Lester Young
  • Charlie Christian
  • Benny Goodman
  • Frank Sinatra
  • Judy Garland
  • Elvis Presley
  • The Beach Boys
  • The Monkeys

He was a member of the Wrecking Crew, West Coast studio musicians who backed up many famous performers including some in the above list.

You can read more about Barney Kessel at this Spectropop bio / obit. You might also want to see his Wikipedia entry. Another brief but good biography is at AllMusic.
